Preparing and adjusting the bike

Fine tuning your motorcycle allows you to ride more confidently, avoid muscle pain and increase your level of comfort so you don't get tired as easily. There are a few mechanical tweaks you can make before you leave, such as adjusting the steering column so you're not hunched over, adjusting the handles so you're not putting unnecessary pressure on your wrists, adjusting the wingmirrors so you can see behind you whether you're sitting or standing, adjusting the gear selector so it fits the size of your boot and adjusting the footrest for a safe and comfortable position.

You can also make some changes to the dashboard. Electrical work can be intimidating but it's extremely useful and means you can keep going if something breaks. Check the brakes, traction control, suspension and lights.
